08.25, A Saturday at The Latsis Foundation full of inspiration and creativity
Share Article

In mid June, I attended a special event at the Latsis Foundation by the cultural organization Branding Heritage, “Weaving as a tool for development.” I knew it would be something meaningful…and it turned out to be even more than I expected.

Expert speakers and artisans shared how weaving connects with design, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. Naturally, there was also a dedicated session on the art of natural dyeing, so closely linked to weaving, which revealed an entire world of colors and techniques.

The venue also hosted an exhibition featuring woven garments, mosaics, and modern creations inspired by the weaving tradition. And the highlight? A participatory activity where each of us placed our own thread onto a large metal circle, creating a collective woven piece. A small yet powerful symbol of how each individual contribution can shape something greater.

For me, this day was more than just a series of talks and presentations. It was an experience filled with knowledge, inspiration, and – most importantly – authentic personal stories. We left as a group bound by shared passion and creativity.

I walked away wιth images. Thoughts. Ideas. And with the certainty that weaving is not a tradition forgotten in old chests, but a meaningful way to connect with the past while envisioning a creative future.
